History
The origins of Władysław Korżyk Vocational School Complex date back to 1947. It was then that the Local National Council, in agreement with the Inspector of Vocational Schools, made the decision to establish the school. At the same time the council declared that it would cover the expenses connected with the school`s functioning. The Regional Board of Education was to fund the salaries for the teachers.
Władysław Korżyk, who was a teacher in a local public school, became the first headmaster. He engaged himself in seeking suitable premises as well as qualified personnel.
The first lessons began on 14th October 1947, in a wooden building at 10 Warszawska Street. The lessons were scheduled to be conducted four times a week, from 4 p.m. to 8.10 p.m. There were two classes: introductory one with 45 students and the first with 37 students. The teachers didn`t work full-time. They were arriving from neighbouring schools.
From the very beginning the school co-operated with local workshops. Simultaneously, owing to the huge commitment of the headmaster, the school grounds were expanded. The first buildings that became the school`s property were at Warszawska Street. Subsequently, the building of dormitory and the building of theoretical classes and the gym at Żytnia Street were adopted.
In a few years` time the school became an inseparable element in the town`s environment. On 23rd November 1968 the school was granted standard and on 24th October 1987 the ceremonial denomination took place. Władysław Korżyk, the first headmaster of the school, became the patron of the Vocational School Complex.
In the meantime the staff was growing in number and the headmasters were changing. After Władysław Korżyk the function of the headmaster was fulfilled by:
- Zbigniew Lipski up to 1991
- Tadeusz Wojtaś up to 2005
Currently, Krystyna Grudniak holds the office of headmistress.
